Two weeks holiday left. Going to be a wrench.
The plan yesterday was to go to BHG but someone wanted to go to Lanzhou Center for a spicy burger. Well it was on the agenda so we swapped days. I think I am going to stick to double cheeseburgers in future, everything else I try is not good. At least I now know how to stop the 7¥ charge for the “free” chicken nuggets which are actually awful. I just have to say mayo gee kwai. I thought mayo gee was enough (and maybe is) but better to be sure.
Then it was the obligatory trip to Metro. Two large bags later and a bill of 900¥, admittedly almost half of it down to luxury chocolates and ones with liqueurs. It would have been more as I had my heart set on buying a live lobster or two for today's dinner but the buggers never had any.
I've never done a live lobster and I am certainly squeamish about chucking them into boiling water alive. Done my research on humane methods and am now ready, just don't have the damned lobster. So dinner tonight was just chips. The space I made in the freezer was taken up by a certain person so methinks she can come and help me buy a chest freezer and get it delivered. If I do indeed have the same timetable next term then I want to be able to pre-cook meals so I can eat properly.
We have a dispute over where the optical health hospital is (the big one). She thinks it's the 15 bus and I think it's the 131. I may coerce her into coming with me. I really need some specs that work. Nearly £1,000 and still I am not happy. Oh God, give me a UK Vision Express!
I stunned Jody tonight by informing her that Gansu province was twice as big as the UK and more than three times as big as England. The Chinese seem to have no conception of the size of the country – for instance this city alone is a tenth the size of England. I am sure I can use those facts in class next term.
Speaking of next term, no sign of a vaccine – western or otherwise.
Are they doing vaccinations in your province now? Supposed to have been nearly 50 million vaccinated by the New Year. I was going to start looking into it this next week for when I am eligible. If you are in a high risk group you are supposed to notify your employer's and then they are supposed to register you and put you forward for early vaccination, even if you are a foreigner. Or so I'm led to believe. LOL
ReplyDeleteNot heard a thing. Reckon the school will sort it. But no sign of jabs here as far as I know.
ReplyDeleteThey are saying Brijing will be 75% vaccinated by mid March. Did you hear they stopped BBC News from being broadcast in China. I used to get it on my local TV but not anymore, have to get it via my Internet TV now.
