Tuesday 16th December, 2014           1745

I had to go into town today to buy the vegetables for tomorrow’s meal and so left in time for breakfast. This Mcbreakfast lark is becoming a bit of a habit but this morning I was sorely disappointed as they had no jam. Had I known I would have ordered something else.

I also bought two pork legs as I suddenly realised this time next week it will be needed for our early Christmas dinner! I like to leave it curing for seven days and just now it went into my fridge in the largest pan so now I have no room at all in it. Yvonne will order the Christmas pudding tonight and fingers crossed, it will arrive in time. In the west you can’t escape Christmas as it is everywhere but here it wouldn’t take much to remain oblivious to it.

It has been really cold with a biting wind today although my friend Mr Hilton (Steve Magor) posted a snapshot of the weather stats where he is - positively balmy at -23C! Not for me thanks, I dread the winters here now and they aren’t that cold either.

I had a message exchange with Joanna this afternoon, she tells me she has the opportunity to go and work abroad next year, for how long I have no idea. I don’t know how many choices she has but she is considering London and Sydney and asked my opinion as to which to take. If I was living in the UK there would be no question of where I would say but as I’m not, on the basis of warmer weather, I am minded to recommend down under. If she does go I am sure I can rely on a certain Scouse author resident there to render advice and assistance where possible.

And guess what? One year on from the last time, I have had contact from the multimedia department wanting to shoot another video of my life! I don’t really want all that intrusion again but it’s hard to say no when someone has chosen you as their homework project. I will have a chat with them tomorrow or whenever but right now I need to get ready to go out into the Arctic to see the show.

The show was very enjoyable apart from the sketches in Chinese. Cinny and two other teachers were recognised with certificates for their published research which I am sure qualified the school for a very sizeable government grant, so well done to them.

I had a suspicion when Dumpling sent me a text which in fact reminded me at breakfast of the show. I confess it had slipped my mind, what with the myriad events and preparations I am trying to remember, however I thought there was a good reason why she asked if I was going to the show. Yes, of course she was performing. In fcat she was among the group of dancers whose act closed the concert. She looked beautiful (they all did) in her cream dress. I am sure there were other students of mine on stage - most are traditionally sophomores - but the problem is, when they get a makeover I simply don’t recognise them!

Here are some photos. There were more but I deleted them as I am incapable of taking shots in focus when using the zoom, even leaning my elbows on the table. I need to buy a little tripod.
