Well today saw a first! After a bad night being angry over the death threats - angry solely because I had no target with which to go on the offensive, which is what I really wanted to do - I issued ultimatums by text. Then it was time to shop in town.
I did my usual (half expecting the cable on the bike to be severed again!) and got on the bus at the terminus. When the bus came back to collect the students I couldn’t believe my eyes! They were all standing in a QUEUE!
Guys in bus company livery had obviously taken charge and it was wonderful to behold. Normally what has happened in the past (and not just outside the university but also elsewhere in town) is that those waiting, or some of the ignorant ones, actually step into the road and prevent the bus from actually pulling into the stop just so they can get on first regardless of how late they arrived. It was lovely to see.
On the bus I received various texts from my would be assassin, who refused my offers of a meeting tomorrow to get to the bottom of it. I now know he is not at the school (although instinct tells me he was a student here previously) and I tried to persuade him to deal with it in a manly and adult fashion and meet me face to face. I needn’t have bothered.
Not wishing to embarrass the university (and more importantly not being frightened of the threats - as the saying goes at sea, “I’ve thrown bigger men than you aside just to get INTO a fight!”) I alerted my assistant teacher Anthony and advised that as the culprit was unconnected to the school I assumed it was logical and ok to contact the police. Yes but please let me know first what you decide. Fine. But the school will be contacted anyway. WHY????
I then sent a text to Bonnie the policewoman cached in very general terms on the lines of “if I did” would the school have to be involved? I did my shopping and to my delight (and Joan’s) Yumeic had the large cream filled croissants. Then of course I had to get back again.
I said recently I may have to cheat more and so today I did. I went another stop further than the commercial centre. Good job I did because had I done the usual I would still have paid an extra fare and had no seat. It is getting utterly ridiculous and if the bus firm had any business acumen they would throw more buses at the route because every time, I see people giving up and hailing taxis, losing them revenue. Lend me a billion yuan and I will show you a profitable bus company!
Anyway, on the bus back Anthony informed me that I was not to worry, he had called the person issuing death threats and he would not harm me. Don’t worry??!! All I want to do is dismember him by hand! The only thing that “worried” me was him surprising me whilst asleep. Anthony is travelling at present and says he will resolve everything on his return on Monday. Fine but I would still love to see who it was and find out exactly what he thought I forced a woman to do - oh yes, I found that out too. I have never forced a woman to do anything in my life so that only served to piss me off further. Sadly I think I will never know. Worse though is that it has now cost me a bloody good cleaner and a good friend, and all for something I never did and have no idea what I am supposed to have done. What goes around comes around they say. I sincerely hope it does in this instance because I am still incensed.
Anyway, when the bus returned I was amazed to see the students queuing for the bus again! This time though it appeared the marshals were students with armbands - is this the sign of things to come? I damned well hope so.
As for the ice city trip? Well currently it is off. I spent two hours last night and three hours today trying to get through on the phone, only to be greeted every time by “dibuchi” which must mean “busy”. I emailed them my changes before I left for town and also pointed out I couldn’t get through on the phone. Great, they have told me how much extra I need to pay and guess what? Given me the same bloody number to call that I can’t get an answer on! Joan may have to die for this.
And worse, because she had to be here at lunchtime with her payment card in case I succeeded, she reheated the two leftover enchiladas from Wednesday and ate them. They were to be my dinner seeing as she is eating at a roommates birthday party tonight.
French bread and ham for me then tonight………..
