New Year’s Day 2017 2130
That bottle of Merlot I saved to see in the new year? I have never had a bad bottle of Merlot.
I have now.
The cork is back in the bottle and the contents will be used for cooking. There’s a lot to be said for buying cheap wine you know is ok even if it’s not haute vin.
I never went out at all last night, neither did I cook a roast. My indolence continued and instead I had a plate of chips, spam fritters and fried eggs. Not exactly gourmet but it filled me up and really, how many people cooking for themselves would bother with fine fare? I do occasionally but I prefer to invite someone to dine with me just to add that impetus. At least I had to make my own chips, McCain haven’t seen fit to grace us with their presence thus far.
Same as today. Doubtless many have feasted from tables groaning under the weight of enormous joints accompanied by enough vegetables to produce sufficient methane to power a small town and gravy boats that were capable of floating the Queen Mary. You probably had fireworks last night too.
Not here. In fact I didn’t even go to bed that late. I did though sleep an awful lot later than I thought I would - 1100!
That meant my penchant for doing stuff all continued to a degree. The floors remain as they were and I never cooked. Instead I went to Homwo armed with my apology voucher and ate a chicken curry (works canteen style but perfectly edible) and downed an airline sized bottle of red. I personally forked out 9y which was good as I am trying not to haemorrhage quite as much money as of late.
That all changed though when I went to the supermarket and spent 350y. Ok, I needed to buy a towel for Alice which was a quarter of that and of course I can use it when she has gone. Then I started thinking of things that were about to run out - shampoo, tissues, toothpaste etc - and so I bought those. About two months worth in fact! Well, young women do seem to use rather a lot of all the aforementioned.
Suzy is now in possession of the sleeping bag, which I will get on Tuesday. I have decided not to come home on the 1700 school bus because I would probably only be home for an hour and a half before having to head back in the general direction anyway. Instead I shall mope in my office for a while and then go somewhere locally for something to eat before going to the train station. Alice told me not to worry about her dinner, she will eat on the train but tomorrow I will freeze some burgers when I make them just in case. I’ve tried the train food. Even the Chinese bring their own.
I’ve left rather a lot to do tomorrow (what‘s new?). Cleaning the floor (the one job I abhor is housework except washing dishes), laundry, changing my bedding, burger making and cooking. I may fail at one or more of these - the only thing I enjoy is cooking.
