I suppose all this walking is making my legs fitter but it certainly doesn’t feel like it just yet.
Sleep is still troubled and yesterday I was exhausted, until that is it came time to be going off up the wooden hill. Then of course I woke up again. With no repair men expected today, I watched a few more episodes of a series I found last night called Tyrant. It’s very good but I think to get the benefit you have to start at the original pilot episode and work through from there - there are three series so that should keep me occupied for a little while.
Aside from the usual senior “getting up for the loo in the middle of the night” episodes, the poxy dog that lives around the corner was vocal and before seven horns were beeping. This is a campus so at that time of the morning there is no excuse for that, if they are collecting someone, CALL THEM! Don’t wake me up! Doggedly I carried on trying to sleep (I have taken to closing all internal doors to try and minimise intrusive noise) but it was in fits and starts. Nonetheless when I did finally get up I was stunned to see it was 1130.
It was 17C today and as I provided Anthony with my address here I am hoping my warm clothes will come soon. Those and all my cooking stuff so I can have something cheap which doesn’t involve noodles. Mind you, I went to the supermarket near the hotel again and this time took a look at what was on offer. Nothing imported at all or anything remotely western. I couldn’t even find tomato puree so unless I can find a Lotte or RT Mart or similar it looks as if I will be using Taobao for an awful lot. I never even saw pasta.
The other day I tried to find where I am on Google maps but with no success. The big lettering on the outside of the BRT shelter states unequivocally that this is Bailie Square so it must be right, yes? I double checked today to make sure I wasn’t going mad and no I am not. However, when you get on the bus there is a little map showing you the stations and there is no stop for Bailie Square. There is though, one for Peili Square!!! Guess what I will be doing once I have posted this? Oh and I found Pizza Hut today - that’s only two stops away.
Can’t afford to go there at present and in fact my yuan will run out by Monday morning so I rather hope my passport will come back then so I can be taken to open an account. Then I shall be able to change my $HK which, if they pay on time, should just scrape me through. It does condemn me to a diet of bloody noodles though. God I could do with a cottage pie or some enchiladas! I mean what the hell western can I cook when I only have a wok?
That’ll do for today, I will try and sleep earlyish tonight so I can make an effort to be ready for the 0500 alarm on Monday morning - I daren’t miss the bus because I won’t have the money to pay for a taxi!
